017 – Great Black Heroes – Wendell Scott
This podcast focuses on race car driver Wendell Scott.
Despite obstacles from racist drivers, fans and executives as well as financial limitations, Wendell Scott became a winner and a NASCAR Hall of Fame member.
He struggled through racism among NASCAR executives, drivers and fans and fought to stay competitive with limited resources and support, but Wendell Scott became the first Black driver in NASCAR to have a victory on the Grand National Series and was elected to the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2015.
